The buildings date back to the 18th century when the city was rebuilt in
Baroque style. The centre is characterised by its magnificent churches and
palaces in pure 18th century style.
Among the churches the most interesting are la Matrice Nuova, the church
of San Bartolomeo, the churches of S. Giovanni, S. Teresa, Del Carmine,
della Consolazione, del Rosario and Santa Maria la Nova.
